Mother’s Day is here once again. Every year at this time, I find myself reflecting on my years as a mom. Am I good enough? Have I shown enough love? Did I praise enough? Was I a good listener? and on and on. Yes, I’ve always taken my role as a mom very seriously, maybe too much so at times???, I don’t know. I consider being a mom the most important work I’ll ever do. Did I always get it right? No. Did I make mistakes? Yes. I think I can look back at my 30+ years as a mom and honestly say I did my best – the best I knew how with what I had. From the moment they were born and I learned what instant love was to now as I embrace the time I get to spend with them as adult children, I have loved them unconditionally and with all my heart and soul, and I have thanked God every day that he entrusted them to me.
I look at my daughters now (Andrea is 30. Emily is 25.) and see what truly good people they are. They’re hard working, kind, caring, loving, compassionate, respectful people. They always strive to do and be their best, give of themselves, and care for others. They’re both quite fun to be around and are good at making me laugh and smile. I look at Andrea and Emily and see that they are my greatest achievement and my legacy. I am forever grateful to be their mom.
My own mom passed on nearly 6 years ago. I spend time thinking about her too, knowing that she too did her best. It’s still strange not to call her on this day to wish her Happy Mother’s Day. I think, though, that she’d be just as proud of me and my family today as she was when she was here on earth with us. I think she looks down on us and sees the wonderful people we are and celebrates milestones and special moments with us and watches over us in our struggles too. I’m grateful for the signs I get that she is still with me in spirit.
Happy Mother’s Day to ALL the wonderful moms out there. I hope your day is blessed with love, happiness, family, and friends, and perhaps a few surprises too.
This day is also a day of celebration for another reason. Today I’ll watch my niece graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from The Ohio State University. I’m so proud of Alison, and in celebration of her achievement, I created a special money card for her. I want to show you how you can make a money card too.
I’ve chosen some new products that I though would be perfect for this task. You can’t go wrong with the Perfectly Pencilled Designer Series Paper for black & white cards with a pop of color. This black and white DSP can be used as is or customized with any of our color tools and inks. My money card also features the Happiness Abounds Bundle. Why not dress your cash gifts in some pretty packaging perfect for graduations, birthdays, weddings, Mother’s Day, and so many more gift giving occasions. You’ll have fun doing it and your special people will be delighted with your handmade presentation.
Cash Card Cutting & Scoring Dimensions:
- Basic Black card base = 7″ x 8 1/2″, score at 2″ and 5 1/4″ on long side
- Basic White card stock = 6 3/4″ x 3″ (cut 2) and 6 3/4″ x 1 3/4″
- Basic White for banner = 4″ x 3/4″ plus scrap for stamping & color flower and leaves
- DSP = 6 5/8″ x 2 7/8″ and 6 5/8″ x 1 5/8″

Here’s a slightly different version I made for my niece who is graduating from The Ohio State University today. I colored the flowers on the Perfectly Penciled DSP with Real Red Stampin’ Blends.
