Color on Black Card Stock – Say What???

In today’s Stampin’ Peace with Mary Knabe Facebook Live, we explored a gorgeous technique that takes your card-making to the next level—coloring on black card stock with Watercolor Pencils! Yep, you read that correctly – coloring on BLACK card stock!

The results? Bold, vibrant, and absolutely stunning! Whether you’re looking to add depth to your designs or just want to try something new, this technique is a must-try for any paper crafter.

Featured Stamp Sets used in this video are the Corner In Bloom Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set and the Something Fancy Stamp Set for the sentiment. I love the creative possibilities using these versatile sets!

Dimensions for Corner In Bloom Cards:

  • Card base = 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ on long side, fold in half.
  • Basic White inside = 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Card stock layer = 5 1/4″ x 4″ and 4 1/2″ x 3 1/2″
  • White or Black card stock for Corner in Bloom stamping = 4 1/4″ x 3 1/4″
  • White card stock for sentiment = 3″ x 2″

Simply by switching out some of the white elements on the card above with black for the cards below, I was able to create 2 very distinct cards using the same card layout and stamps.

Use the Coloring on Black Card Stock Technique on any of your paper crafts. I used this on the 2 projects below – one to be framed and one as a scrapbook page. The results of embossing and coloring with Watercolor Pencils it stunning and makes the Corner in Bloom images really POP!

Watercolor Pencils used: Melon Mambo and Old Olive

Watercolor Pencils used: Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green

2 Cards made with Corner in Bloom, Spring Corners, and Grateful Blessing Stamp Sets in Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape, and Granny Apple Green. Sentiments read "Wishing you an amazing day" and "You're such a blessing".
